Class signups for Summer 2026 SAT/ACT Classes have begun! First class to begin late May.
“This is just how it is.”
“You just have to remember how to use this for the test.”
That was the response whenever I asked why.
In many classrooms, curiosity is treated as inefficiency. If a question doesn’t help move the class forward, it gets pushed aside. But that approach leaves students memorizing steps instead of actually understanding what they’re doing.
I’ve worked in tutoring for over 9 years, starting when I was a senior in high school. Over that time, I’ve taught students one-on-one, in small groups, and in full classroom settings. I’ve worked independently and with multiple tutoring companies, and through that experience, I began to notice a pattern.
Most tutoring companies sell one of two things: lower cost or some kind of educational edge. In practice, these often fall short.
Companies focused on price tend to hire the cheapest tutors they can find. These are often people who may know the material but have not deeply thought about how to teach it. Their model depends on volume, so students are pushed into more hours rather than better outcomes.
On the other side, companies that claim an educational edge often rely on rigid systems or pre-built methods. Many of these approaches come from people who have not gone through the full academic journey themselves. What they offer is a third-person perspective on goals they have not personally achieved.
I have gone through that process firsthand. I earned top standardized test scores, competed in math competitions, and was accepted into highly selective universities. More importantly, I have worked closely with students to help them reach those same outcomes, including admission to Ivy League and other highly competitive schools.
ChicagoBright exists to help students move beyond memorization and develop the ability to think through problems on their own.
Curious how that works in practice? You can explore the approach below or schedule a consultation to get started.
